Back in August, I ran a free week-long challenge called Dare to Prioritize. In this challenge I guided people through a daily exercise for a week to get everything off their mind and prioritized so they could, most importantly, take action to make progress on their TOP 1-3 priorities each day.

Part of these daily sessions during the challenge is to do a brain dump to get everything off your mind. This is critical because you can't prioritize what's not known. So you gotta get it all out of your head.

AND the brain dump isn't enough. In fact, if you don't pair your brain dump with a process to identify action and a system to hold everything, the relief a brain dump brings is often short-lived.

This is what happened to my wife, Kim, who was in the challenge.

She allowed me to share her struggle with one of my communities and then agreed to let me share it with you here. So this episode is a debrief Kim and I shared after she sat down with me for about 15 minutes to help her make her brain dump more actionable.

My main takeaway;
1 - A braindump is a great way to move forward, but again, it's not enough to keep you from a constant cycle of overwhelm.

2 - Leading and lagging indicators are the key to progress. Really, it's just being clear about the results you are trying to create and the actions you need to take to get there.

3 - Kim, like all of you, is brilliant at what she does. AND sometimes we are too close to our own stuff to see our way forward. It can help to talk it out...so do that.

Question of the Week:What action can you take consistently to make progress on your most important goal?
