044: The Lies We Tell Ourselves. A What Matters Most Episode

Season #2

This is a What Matters Most episode, where you get to be the fly on the wall of a coaching session. The goal of these sessions is to help someone get clear on what matters most for them RIGHT NOW and identify what action they can take to make progress on that.

Meet Kris.

Kris is a renaissance woman…or at least to me, she is.

Professionally, she is a freelance writer, audiobook narrator/producer, voice actor, and actor.

Personally, Kris is in a committed relationship, has two dogs, and cares for her 92-year-old mom. She manages her mom's caregiver, home and land upkeep, and is the person on call when emergencies happen.

Kris is such a pro at what she does and is clear about what she wants. But with so many ways to get there, her focus and energy were dispersed.

In fact, the week before Kris and I sat down to chat, she had just spent the week managing all the aspects of a medical emergency with her mom. Thankfully by the time we spoke, her mom was doing better, but Kris was feeling like she had lost a week and was not feeling productive.

So during our chat, we found ONE thing she could make progress on for now— pitching herself.

Something from our session that stood out to me was the little lies we tell ourselves about productivity.

Lies like…

  • Productivity can't be personal
  • Productivity is all about results
  • Productivity has to be planned
  • Productivity has to be big

I see these lies surface over and over again for people...heck even for me. And all this got me thinking of a question I want to ask you…

Question of the week: What is one lie you are telling yourself about productivity and how is it hurting you?

Head on over to @productivitybreakthrough on Instagram or Elise Enriquez Coaching and Consulting on Facebook - find the question of the week post and share your answer.
